iManage in Chicago is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own complex initiatives across the SDLC on our core platform. You will partner with product, design, and research to shape what we build and how we build it, while maintaining hands-on ownership.

You will design cloud-native systems at scale, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams. The role blends technical leadership with applying AI thoughtfully in daily development.

Qualifikationen

• Own complex technical initiatives from problem definition through delivery with minimal oversight.
• Hands-on experience in Java, microservices, and event-driven architectures in production systems.
• Experience designing cloud-native systems at scale, with Azure preferred.
• Ability to think critically about architectural patterns and articulate benefits.

• Collaborating within cross-functional engineering teams as well as peer teams to build an integrated solution

• A demonstrated record of owning complex technical initiatives from problem definition through delivery, including workdrivenindependently with minimal oversight
• Hands‑on experience in Java, microservices, and event-driven architectures, built through delivering real production systems
• Experience designing and delivering cloud-native systems at scale, withAzurepreferred
• The ability tothink critically about howarchitectural patterns applyto a scenario, and theskillsto articulate the benefitsof applying those patterns
• Apractical, applied understanding of AI in the engineering workflow: comfortable using AI coding tools effectively, and able to explain and stand behind whatever you ship
• Comfortoperatingwith ambiguity,taking ownership across multiple areas, and adapting to changing priorities; experience in consulting or startup environments is a plus
• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field
• Proficiencywith relational and NoSQL database systems
• Experience with the Linux platform as a development and runtime environment
• Knowledge of secure coding and design practices, including threat modeling, is a plus
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and build management; use of Dockerand Kubernetesis a plus

The overall US annual base salary range for this position is $150,000–$200,000. Individual compensation for each candidate depends on factors such as qualifications, experience, and candidate location. This range does not include additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses, or benefits.
