Job summary

Assured Information Security (AIS) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for our CyberAI team. Hybrid role with onsite 3 days per week and requires an active TS/SCI clearance. You will lead and contribute to the research and development of software solutions for DoD and intelligence customers.

The role demands deep experience in CNO/OCO, low-level systems and secure software development. Expect strong skills in TCP/IP, assembly, Windows/Unix internals, and CI/CD pipelines with GitLab.

Qualifications

Assured Information Security (AIS) is looking for a Principal Software Engineer with a strong background in Computer Network Operations (CNO) and Offensive Cyber Operations (OCO), to join our CyberAI team. In this role, you'll be responsible for leading and contributing to the research and development of innovative software solutions and critical applications leveraged by our customers.

*This is a hybrid position, with an onsite requirement of 3 days per week. This position also requires an active TS/SCI*

What You'll Do:

• Evaluate software for latent flaws which may constitute a vulnerability.
• Evaluate and develop circumventions for security mechanisms preventing code execution.
• Design and develop hardware and software based CNO capabilities.
• Assist with designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging applications.
• Apply knowledge of security concepts and networks.
• Set up and use virtualized infrastructure in developing and testing code.

Education/Experience/Skillset Required:

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study and 11 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong debugging expertise.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking and socket-level programming.
• Knowledge of CNO development concepts.
• Background in software analysis and reverse engineering.
• Experience with assembly programming and assembly-level analysis.
• Deep understanding of low-level internals for one or more of the following: Windows, Unix/Linux, network devices, mobile devices, or unit test frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with GitLab for source control, issue tracking, code review, and CI/CD pipeline development.
• Ability to conduct packet capture, traffic inspection, and protocol analysis using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
• Strong understanding of Windows internals and Windows APIs, with software development experience in C/C++.
• Experience developing, analyzing, and debugging shellcode, including position-independent code (PIC).
• Hypervisor development experience is a plus.

US Salary Range: $141,000 - 196,000

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on several factors including location, skills, and experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package which includes employer paid health insurance and a 7% contribution to your 401k, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
