Job summary

F5 is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead enterprise applications across Engineering and Operations. You will set technical direction, architect complete software components, and mentor engineers while driving security and performance standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelors or Masters in CS or equivalent and 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expert in Cloud native intelligent analytics solutions.
• Experience with Go, Python, Java or similar technologies.
• Expertise in building data warehouse analytics solutions.
• Strong backend/DB design and performance tuning skills.
• Frontend experience with React and ML/AI familiarity.
• Experience with microservices on AWS or GCP and system observability.
• Proven leadership and ability to guide teams across boundaries.

The Principal Software Engineer plays a key role in building enterprise applications for F5 Engineering and Operations teams.

The Principal Engineer is a thought leader, who continually looks for ways to improve our solutions and then architects, and builds data-driven solutions that empower teams across the organization to make better, faster decisions.

You will set the technical direction, and serve as the key designer for the development, and implementation of complete software components.

You will drive security and performance standards and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities / What You'll Do

• Lead requirements analysis and define designs for new tools, as well as enhancements to existing tools and systems.
• Architect and lead the development of scalable and secure back end and front-end systems.
• Provide technical direction and guide junior engineers.
• Recommend, establish and maintain technical design methodologies and processes.
• Develop and implement automated testing strategies to improve efficiency.
• Implement and drive best coding practices and design patterns.
• Develop and maintain quality gates for continuous integration and continuous deployment.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure high quality project delivery.

Qualifications, What You Bring

• Bachelors or Master's degree in computer science engineering or equivalent and 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expertise in developing Cloud native intelligent analytics solutions.
• Experience with Go, Python, Java or similar technologies.
• Expertise in building data warehouse analytics solutions.
• Strong background with designing backend SQL/ NoSQL databases and performance tuning.
• Experience with Front end technologies like React.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning models and AI techniques.
• Familiarity with System observability and monitoring.
• Hands on experience with Docker and Kubernetes as well as developing applications using microservices architecture with Cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Excellent communication skills and leadership skills. Ability to independently work across team boundaries and own projects.
• Ability to guide team members on technical aspects.

Preferred

• Implementation experience with Machine learning models and AI techniques for improved decision making.
• Experience with PromQL, Tableau, Grafana.

The annual base pay for this position is: $225,600.00 - $338,400.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5's differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
