The Role

As a Principal Signal Integrity Engineer for Data Center GPU Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring that AMD’s next-generation products deliver industry-leading reliability, performance, and efficiency. You will drive the design and validation of high-speed interfaces, ensuring that all board materials, stack-ups, connectors, and signal integrity considerations are optimized to meet the most demanding datacenter requirements.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers to push the boundaries of performance and time-to-market while ensuring the manufacturability of the final product. Your deep technical expertise in signal integrity, SERDES tuning, and high-speed design will be critical in delivering innovative, cost-effective, and high-quality products.

The Person

The ideal candidate for this role is an innovative and results-driven engineer with deep expertise in signal integrity and high-speed design, particularly in datacenter environments. They are collaborative yet capable of leading teams to execute complex projects with urgency, while maintaining a focus on performance, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency. A passion for staying at the forefront of technological advancements and a hands-on approach to problem-solving in the lab will ensure success in this high-impact role.

Key Responsbilities

  • Lead the design, development, and validation of signal/power integrity for high-speed interfaces in AMD’s data center GPU systems, ensuring the integrity of all system communications.
  • Leverage your expertise in single-ended and serial links to develop solutions that optimize performance while ensuring reliability in high-speed data environments.
  • Utilize internal simulation tools and modeling methodologies to guide design decisions and correlate with physical validation data to meet performance and reliability targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative board layouts, materials, and stack-ups optimized for high-speed signaling in datacenter applications.
  • Drive the design and validation of AMD’s first rack-level products for datacenters, ensuring manufacturability and the ability to meet the stringent needs of enterprise-level customers.
  • Make design decisions with a focus on cost-efficiency, performance optimization, and quality control, ensuring that the final product is optimized for manufacturability without sacrificing technical performance.
  • Lead SERDES tuning efforts to optimize Bit Error Rate (BER) and ensure reliable high-speed signal transmission across complex systems.
  • Develop comprehensive validation plans, oversee execution, and provide actionable insights to improve product performance through testing and debugging in lab environments.
  • Work with internal teams and external ODM partners to align on validation criteria, ensuring that designs meet product requirements and reliability targets.
  • Guide internal design teams, as well as ODM partners, in adhering to AMD’s design guidelines while ensuring quality and speed in execution.
