Job summary

RTX is seeking a Principal Should Cost Engineer for a remote US-based role. You will lead cost modeling across complex assemblies, using aPriori and custom regression models to drive cost transparency for supplier negotiations.

The role requires STEM education with 8+ years experience, plus ERP/SAP familiarity and strong interpretation of engineering drawings. Occasional travel is possible, with a focus on scalable cost drivers and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
• Experience should costing or designing to cost.
• Experience with engineering drawing, reading, and interpretation.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP system.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost modeling and benchmarking activities spanning complex assemblies, parts.
• Utilize aPriori significantly as well as home grown regression models and still to be developed models.
• Should costing and should cost modeling for components and assemblies, translating engineering drawings and models into costed elements (material, labor, OH, tooling, logistics).
• Develop and maintain cost roll ups and drivers at appropriate levels of granularity to support negotiations.
• Create assumptions and cost driver logic.
• Use historical data to create forward looking models when should costing software is not available.
• Validate and calibrate models at appropriate intervals.
• Train new users of software or models and help/contribute to upgrading standard work.
• Conduction should cost assessments on parts with software called aPriori.
• Potential travel with Supply Chain managers occasionally, however, minimal.

Salary

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
