Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical science, life science, engineering, occupational safety, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; preferred experience in manufacturing and/or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, codes, and standards; GMP/non-GMP environments.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills; ability to translate data into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Ability to influence objectives, work independently, and drive change.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year sustainability roadmap aligned with global ESG goals.
  • Drive decarbonization efforts across Scope 1-3 emissions.
  • Lead site-wide sub-streams and participate in global cross-functional project teams; apply critical thinking and data-driven problem solving to identify innovative solutions.
  • Partner with GRP SHE to coordinate material topic assessments, progress toward targets (e.g., science-based carbon reduction targets), and prepare business cases for executive approval.
  • Monitor cross-functional project execution, build dashboards, establish KPIs, and report performance.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards; stay current with global regulatory trends (e.g., CSRD/ESRS); prepare reports for regulatory bodies.
  • Develop policies and procedures to drive continuous improvement in sustainability-focused areas.
  • Advise the Site Leadership Team and foster a culture of sustainability; coach and mentor EHS staff.

Overview

The Principal Program Manager - Environment/Sustainability will be instrumental in defining and executing the site’s environmental stewardship and sustainability initiatives. This position is responsible for driving comprehensive decarbonization efforts across all Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. A key part of the role involves safeguarding critical natural resources—biodiversity, water resources, and air quality—through rigorous, data-driven interventions. Additionally, the position has reporting responsibility to the enterprise to ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability reporting regulations. The successful candidate will be a highly specialized professional in implementing sustainability initiatives, with a strong preference for experience within a biologics manufacturing setting.

Physical requirements and benefits

Physical requirements: ability to walk, stand, and climb in industrial environments; wear PPE; lift up to 25 pounds. Relocation benefits are available.
