Zscaler is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer (Layer 7 Security Proxy) in Santa Clara, CA. This hybrid role (3 days in office) focuses on advanced Layer 7 protocols, SSL inspection, and modernizing the ZIA code base while delivering key proxy roadmap features at scale.

You will lead architecture decisions, mentor teams, and collaborate with Product Management to design secure, high-performance networking security software for a global customer base.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience designing and implementing networking security software.
• Deep understanding of proxies, HTTP/2, QUIC, TCP/IP, TLS/DTLS and SSL proxies.
• Proficient in C language and building high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsabilités

• Support end-to-end QUIC/HTTP/3 and HTTP/2 proxy architecture in ZIA.
• Define and evolve ZIA proxy architecture and reference designs.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural governance across teams.
