Job summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead design and delivery of secure, scalable tech products within Consumer & Community Banking CTC. You will drive agentic AI-enabled development practices, mentor teams, and shape standards across the SDLC in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include architecting reusable frameworks, ensuring production quality, and collaborating with senior leaders to align technology with business goals across multiple portfolios.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 7+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Expert in one or more programming language(s).
• Experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices across teams.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows.
• Practical cloud native experience.

Responsibilities

• Creates complex and scalable coding frameworks using appropriate software design frameworks.
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Architects and governs agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows to improve delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes at scale, with guardrails for validation and security.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools, including enterprise AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve value of automation at scale.
• Advises cross-functional teams on technological matters within domain of expertise.
• Serves as the function’s go-to subject matter expert.
• Contributes to development of technical methods in specialized fields in line with latest product development methodologies.
• Creates durable, reusable software frameworks leveraged across teams and functions.
• Influences leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
