Job summary

Hansoh Bio, a US-based biotech unit of Hansoh Pharma, is seeking a senior medicinal chemist to shape discovery strategies and drive preclinical projects. You will lead cross-functional teams, design novel compounds, and mentor rising leaders in a fast-paced, on-site environment in Maryland.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD with 10+ years in pharma/biotech, demonstrates a track record of advancing compounds toward clinical nomination, and communicates findings clearly to senior management.

Qualifications

• PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry with 10+ years of drug discovery experience in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology environment.
• Medicinal chemistry expertise with excellent understanding of biology, pharmacology, DMPK and ability to integrate these disciplines toward successful project advancement.
• Demonstrated track record in medicinal chemistry as evidenced by successful advancement of drug discovery projects to clinical candidate nomination a strong asset.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve problems creatively.
• Experience in drug discovery and development process.
• Experience in structure-based drug design.
• Strong knowledge of and experience in synthetic methodologies.
• Excellent written and oral, presentation and communication skills.
• Great leadership skills and experience working in dynamic multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute medicinal chemistry strategies and deliver high-quality preclinical candidates consistent with the project timelines agreed upon;
• Lead drug discovery programs through effective collaboration with internal and external teams, including CROs;
• Implement innovative drug discovery strategies utilizing deep expertise in novel compound designs and viable synthetic chemistry route designs based on comprehensive knowledge of chemistry, biology, DMPK, pharmacology and toxicology;
• Apply modern drug discovery principles to analyze new data, solve medicinal chemistry problems, and work with cross-functional teams to advance the projects;
• Stay current with competitive landscape including intellectual property for the projects;
• Mentor internal team leaders and team members and build a strong medicinal chemistry team;
• Provide well-organized reports and presentations to project teams and senior management.
