Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics is seeking a data engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and repositories for TDS data sourced from lab systems, MES, and external partners.

You will enable AI/ML readiness with well-structured, versioned data and translate business needs into data products, supporting multiple projects with strong stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Data Science, Life Sciences, Computer Science, or related; advanced degree preferred.
• 3+ years in data engineering with data modeling/database design, preferably in scientific/manufacturing/healthcare.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and cloud architectures (AWS, Snowflake, Redshift).
• Experience with NoSQL and graph databases; strong analytics and stakeholder management.

Job description

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to acquire, integrate, and manage TDS data from sources such as lab systems, MES, clinical supply, quality systems, and external partners.
• Create and optimize data flows for structured and unstructured data using Python, R, SQL, DBT, and cloud services.
• Develop and maintain TDS data repositories using enterprise data models.
• Ensure AI/ML readiness with well-structured, versioned, traceable, semantically aligned data.
• Partner to translate business needs into data products and engineering requirements; implement semantic models/knowledge graph architectures.
• Define and enforce data quality/performance standards and KPIs; apply versioning and lineage tracking; follow software best practices (code versioning, DevOps, documentation).
• Collaborate with stakeholders and support multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Advanced degree (Engineering, Data Science, Life Sciences, Computer Science, or related); advanced degree preferred.
• 3+ years in data engineering (data modeling/database design), preferably in scientific/manufacturing/healthcare.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and cloud architectures (AWS, Snowflake, Redshift).

• Strong analytics/problem-solving and stakeholder management; ability to turn discussions into requirements.

Preferred:

• Experience with regulated/standards-driven data (CDISC, HL7, FHIR, OMOP, DICOM, manufacturing/quality standards).
• Knowledge of high-dimensional data (e.g., imaging/sensor).
• Experience with MLOps/model deployment workflows.
• Knowledge of MES, lab information systems, or industrial data systems.
• Experience with knowledge graph architectures.
