Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics seeks a Principal Scientist of Data Science to define and lead the imaging data strategy across multiple locations in the U.S. This senior role focuses on building scalable imaging data products for clinical trials and therapeutic programs while ensuring regulatory compliance and data quality.

The candidate will drive collaboration with clinical teams and external partners, modernize pipelines, and advance multi-modal data capabilities, with a flexible relocation footprint

Qualifications

• 10+ years in medical imaging and multi-modal data environments.
• Experience building and scaling data products or data platforms.
• Leadership in cross-functional and vendor collaborations.
• Hands-on with imaging data standards (DICOM), PACS.

Responsibilities

• Define an end-to-end vision for imaging data products (ingestion, curation, integration, consumption).
• Lead development and scaling of imaging data products aligned to clinical trial needs.
• Promote FAIR data principles and ensure regulatory/privacy/ethical compliance.
• Collaborate with therapeutic and disease teams to translate needs into scalable solutions.
• Lead cross-functional execution across data science, engineering, clinical, and external partners (CROs/vendors).
• Modernize imaging pipelines, platforms, and workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Support growth of imaging-focused data capabilities in clinical development priorities.

Principal Scientist, Data Science (primary location flexible: Titusville, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Spring House, PA; Cambridge, MA; or San Diego, CA)

Responsibilities Include

• Define an end-to-end vision for imaging data products (ingestion, curation, integration, consumption).
• Lead development and scaling of medical imaging data products aligned to clinical trial and therapeutic needs.
• Promote FAIR data principles and ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with therapeutic and disease area teams to translate business needs into scalable solutions.
• Lead cross-functional execution across data science, engineering, clinical, and external partners (CROs/vendors).
• Modernize imaging pipelines, platforms, and workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Support growth of imaging-focused data capabilities aligned to clinical development priorities.

Education/Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; PhD or equivalent preferred.
• Advanced degree in Imaging Health Sciences or related field.
• Background in Radiology, Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Medicine, Medical Physics, or similar.

Experience & Skills (Required/Preferred)

• 10+ years in medical imaging and multi-modal data environments.
• Experience building and scaling data products or data platforms.
• Leadership in cross-functional and vendor collaborations.
• Hands-on expertise in imaging data standards (e.g., DICOM), PACS, and multi-modal data pipelines.
• Familiarity with analytics and AI/ML (e.g., computer vision) in imaging contexts.
• Ability to translate complex imaging data into business and clinical value.
• Strong stakeholder engagement (clinical trial teams, data stewards, technology partners).
• Subject-matter credibility in imaging (research/publications preferred).
