Job summary

Merck & Co., Rahway, NJ, seeks a Principal Scientist to lead CMC project teams and formulation development from first-in-human formulations through market definition and manufacturing robustness.

The candidate will drive technology strategy, build capabilities, and mentor staff across a matrix organization, delivering innovative drug delivery solutions with scientific leadership and collaboration across functions.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with extensive industry experience in drug product formulation.
• Experience leading formulation development in matrix teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Expertise in drug delivery technologies.
• Ability to design and lead complex experiments and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of innovative approaches for product development and data-driven strategic direction.
• Mentor technical staff and support pipeline programs.
• Lead due diligence of pipeline assets and represent PSCS on cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate technology development in emerging drug delivery areas and build capabilities.
• Drive evaluation of new technologies and deploy them to pipeline assets.
• Collaborate across functions to develop novel drug delivery technologies.
