Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Risk Specialist in the Operational Risk Challenge & Advisory group to partner with business teams in identifying and mitigating operational risk. You will provide second-line challenge and expert guidance on risk assessments, collaborate with BRO, IRM and Internal Audit, and drive remediation initiatives with a data-driven approach.

The role requires 2+ years in risk-related fields, a Bachelor’s degree (military experience accepted), and certifications like

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or military experience required.
• At least 2 years of experience in Risk Management, Audit, Finance, or Accounting.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Project Management Professional (PMP) strongly preferred.
• Advanced skills in Google Sheets and Google Docs; proficient in data analysis and data visualization tools such as Tableau.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line challenge and advice to the 1st line on risk assessment processes (RCSA, PLA, PRA, Launch initiatives, etc).
• Document results of challenge activities and perform data analysis to identify risks and remediation needs.
• Act as SME to BRO and IRM in operational risk assessments.
• Collaborate across Operational Risk Management, Risk Oversight Programs, ERM, BR Operating Offices, Internal Audit, and others to achieve objectives.
• Build relationships and trusted advisory stance with first-line Business Risk Offices.
• Participate in ORCA team efforts and be proficient in ERM Risk and Control Standards.
