Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal RF Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) program. This position would be based in the Colorado Springs, Colorado area.

This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.

Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • This role will travel approximately 50% of the time to an OCONUS location with durations lasting 90-120 days.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application
  • Must have a completed STEM degree [a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics]
    • 5 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's (STEM)
    • 3 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's (STEM)
    • 0 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D. (STEM)
  • Must have above minimum experience with hands-on RF testing
  • Must have above minimum experience with hands-on integration and test of individual antennas, phased array antennas, RF circuits, passive RF components, and RF systems
  • Must have above minimum hands-on experience using commercial test equipment (i.e., vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, signal generators)
  • Must have the ability to travel OCONUS for 90 to 120-day increments (up to 50% annually)
Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical / Communications Engineering or related field
  • Experience testing and characterizing products that utilize advanced waveforms
  • Experience with temperature, shock, burn-in, and environmental testing (including MIL-STD 810G).
  • Experience using Linux and developing software applications that run on Linux-based computer systems
  • Experience participating and guiding the testing of RF hardware for required performance metrics: VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, radar cross section (RCS), etc.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding more junior engineers and technicians in the design, build, and test phases of RF projects and programs

Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
