Job summary

Tampa Microwave, Inc. in Clearwater, FL is seeking a Principal RF Design Engineer to advance multi-orbit SATCOM systems and develop cutting-edge radar and satellite solutions.

You will work on parabolic antennas, RF components, modems, and mechanically steered positioners in a highly technical, defense-oriented environment. The role requires leading hardware/software requirements, system-level design, and collaboration with manufacturing to ensure robust, scalable SATCOM products.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering/physics with business education or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in military or commercial SATCOM.
• Ph.D. is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and select RF components; lead layout optimization and prototyping.
• Collaborate on analog design for RF power and integration with logic circuits.
• Develop land-based SATCOM systems including modules and antennas with the team.
• Translate high-level requirements into detailed hardware specs for modular RF products.
• Lead system hardware/software requirements for ground SATCOM products including transceivers.
• Perform link budget analysis for GEO/MEO/LEO in X-, Ku-, Ka-bands.
• Design waveguide structures and high-performance filters up to 40 GHz.
• Interface with satellite providers and government entities for certifications.
• Develop test specs and verification matrices for Mil STD and standards compliance.
