Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a life science with experience in computer science or information technology.
• 7+ years of experience in a research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific laboratory environment.
• Previous experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry; adept at using tools (e.g., LIMS, SQL databases, data and process modeling frameworks) to perform business analysis and map data flows.

Responsibilities

• Translate business strategies, goals, and objectives into clear requirements; document problem statements with quantifiable business value.
• Document “as is” and “to be” business processes; identify, verify, and document functional and non-functional requirements using standard methodologies and tools.
• Map information system connections and data flows between systems; identify data elements and provide data mapping and data dictionaries.
• Write SQL statements to investigate data; understand data lake principles and different database types.
• Maintain and prioritize the backlog of requests; ensure the development team has absolute clarity on requirements; manage business stakeholder expectations.
• Work with scientists and laboratory personnel to understand business processes and suggest improvements; partner with research scientists and technical teams to define system goals and requirements.
• Pursue data quality issues to root cause; collaborate with business and IT partners to address issues intelligently.
• Handle a variety of tasks, effectively solve problems with complex variables, and shift priorities as needed in a fast‑paced research environment.
• Work alongside stakeholders to test solutions for accuracy and consistency of results.
