Job summary

Regeneron is seeking a Principal Business Analyst in the RPM to work with Research Program Managers and scientists to understand drug discovery data processes and translate them into requirements for data and technology solutions.

Based at our Tarrytown, NY location, this role requires 4 days onsite per week and emphasizes backlog management, data mapping, SQL investigations, and collaboration with IT and biology teams to drive data quality and project success.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in life sciences with CS/IT required.
• 7+ years of experience in a research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific laboratory environment.
• Experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry required; must use tools like LIMS, SQL databases, data modeling frameworks to elicit and document requirements, map data flows, and drive data quality improvements.
• Experience with drug discovery program management, biological lab techniques, bioinformatics methods, relational databases, IT project and software lifecycle methodologies, and leading software development projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Translate business strategies, goals, and objectives into clear requirements; document problem statements with quantifiable business value.
• Document as is and to be business processes; identify, verify, and document functional and non-functional requirements using standard methodologies and tools.
• Map information system connections and data flows between systems; identify data elements and provide data mapping and data dictionaries.
• Write SQL statements to investigate data; understand data lake principles and different database types.
• Maintain and prioritize the backlog of requests; ensure the development team has absolute clarity on requirements; manage business stakeholder expectations.
• Work with scientists and laboratory personnel to understand business processes and suggest improvements; partner with research scientists and technical teams to define system goals and requirements.
• Pursue data quality issues to root cause; collaborate with business and IT partners to address issues intelligently.
• Handle a variety of tasks, effectively solve problems with complex variables, and shift priorities as needed in a fast-paced research environment.
• Work alongside stakeholders to test solutions for accuracy and consistency of results.
