PG&E is seeking a senior energy procurement professional to lead origination and negotiation of PPAs for renewable and storage resources. The role collaborates with back-office and front-office teams to ensure procurement aligns with policy objectives and market dynamics.
The successful candidate will influence senior leadership, manage complex cross-functional projects, and bring strong CAISO and energy-market expertise to drive PG&E's wholesale energy portfolio in California.
The Energy Policy and Procurement (EPP) organization is responsible for sourcing energy products and shaping PG&E's engagement in energy‑related regulatory and legislative proceedings at the state, regional, and federal levels. EPP oversees long‑term energy portfolio planning, risk management, and compliance functions.
The Structured Energy Transactions (SET) Department manages wholesale power purchase agreements for renewable and storage resources, overseeing procurement programs designed to meet policy objectives cost‑effectively. Within SET, the Structured Transactions (ST) Team leads the structuring, origination, negotiation, and management of PG&E's wholesale electric procurement, including solar, biomass, geothermal, wind, and energy storage. The team drives the execution of solicitations, develops power purchase agreements (PPAs), and ensures these activities support state reliability and environmental goals.
As a key contributor to the ST team, this individual will negotiate commercial terms and conditions of energy contracts, and contribute in other areas of PG&E's structured energy procurement efforts. This team may be responsible for leading various commercial activities to procure renewable energy, distributed resources, or storage capacity. This role will work closely with other teams including Energy Settlements and Contract Management (back office), Short Term Electric Transactions (front office), Energy Transactions & Solicitations, Portfolio Management, Law, Risk, and Regulatory Affairs. Success in this position will require the ability to motivate and influence the work of others and work across teams within the Energy Policy and Procurement organization, and throughout the company.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The work location is Oakland, CA.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the range. The final decision will be made on a case‑by‑case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
