A Day in the Life

The role of Principal Reimbursement Analyst offers the opportunity to establish reimbursement for innovative new products and therapies. This position is within the Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) Operating Unit (OU), one of the fastest-growing units at Medtronic. The PVH portfolio includes treatments for peripheral artery disease, carotid artery occlusions, deep venous disease, and more, significantly improving patient quality of life.

The Principal Reimbursement Analyst will serve as a key member of the HEPR team, driving US launch and global implementation of reimbursement strategies for the PVH portfolio, focusing on peripheral arterial and venous disease treatments. The role involves developing and communicating reimbursement strategies, engaging with payers, physicians, and stakeholders, and supporting product lifecycle reimbursement needs.

This position requires collaboration with regional and global colleagues, occasional travel, and the ability to craft innovative solutions in a dynamic environment. Strong communication, project management, and cross-functional experience are essential.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement reimbursement strategies for new and existing therapies, including coding, coverage, and payment considerations.
  2. Lead customer engagement, training, and education on reimbursement topics for internal teams and external stakeholders.
  3. Create and maintain reimbursement tools such as coding sheets and economic models.
  4. Provide input to product development and marketing teams regarding reimbursement strategies.
  5. Partner with local and global teams to develop localized value stories and understand market dynamics.
  6. Evaluate economic impacts and develop market access strategies integrating reimbursement mechanisms.
  7. Serve as a subject matter expert on coding, coverage, and payment, supporting field teams and external providers.
  8. Develop resources and tools to facilitate understanding of reimbursement processes.
  9. Maintain knowledge of US healthcare reimbursement rules, including CMS and commercial payers.
  10. Identify payer opportunities and develop programs to address barriers to market entry.
  11. Monitor reimbursement trends and policy changes to inform strategy.
  12. Create dashboards and reports to support decision-making.
Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years in health policy, reimbursement, or health economics, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced degrees (MPH, MS, MHA, MBA, PhD) or post-graduate training in related fields.
  • Relevant coding credentials (RHIA, CCS, CPC, etc.).
  • Experience in the device or pharmaceutical industry, or healthcare economics and reimbursement.
  • Knowledge of US hospital-based medical device reimbursement, coding, and Medicare systems.
  • Experience with health economic methods and project management.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and collaboration skills across cultures and functions.
Additional Information

Travel approximately 10-15%. Remote work is possible with occasional travel for meetings and conferences.

Benefits include competitive salary, incentives, health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and more. Salary range: $138,400 - $207,600 annually.
