Job summary

Qualifications

  • Technical leadership to resolve tough engineering challenges.
  • Electrical hardware design and development, with adherence to design standards.
  • Experience producing active antenna array assemblies (AESAs).
  • Strong written and verbal communication for management and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as principal technical contact and engineer for development, production and sustainment of the designated array.

The Multi-Product Power & Digital (MPD) department designs FPGAs, circuit cards, and electronics subassemblies for a range of products including missiles/effectors, radars, and electronic warfare systems. The team leverages digital, analog, and power design skills to provide support throughout the product lifecycle from architecture and design through production and sustainment.

Principal Electrical Engineer – Radar Array Lead

We are currently seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer, with strong technical depth and leadership ability, to function as the Radar Array Lead for a multi-mission radar system. The Radar Array Lead will join the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Engineering team in McKinney, TX and have product responsibility for Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA) used in one of the Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) multi-mission radars on the MFRFS Product Line.

This position is an onsite role, located in McKinney, TX.

What You Will Do
  • Primary technical point of contact and responsible engineer for development, production and sustainment activities for designated array within the MFRFS Product Line
  • Interface between the program engineering and program management to the Array design authority
  • Work with the Array chief engineer (CE) on technical issues, assist with prioritization of efforts and report task execution status
  • Provide recommendations to the chief engineer on design improvements, technical risks and benefits, and overall technical maturation of the designated array
  • Coordination of design update activities, production build issues requiring engineering troubleshooting and support for field issues related to designated array
  • Occasional travel opportunities may be required to support our customers at various sites
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Prior experience with RF simulation toolsets (e.g., ADS, HFSS, SystemVue, etc.)
  • Prior experience with RF testing including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and near field probes
  • Technical leadership experience, including the ability to lead the resolution of tough technical challenges
  • Electrical hardware design and development experience including design standard adherence
  • Experience with production of a new and/or significantly evolved active antenna array assemblies
  • Strong written and verbal communication; must be able to present to various levels of management as well as internal and external customers
Qualifications We Value
  • One or more advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major.
  • Specific experience with the design, development, and production of complex military electronics subsystems, especially with active electronically scanned arrays (AESAs)
  • Broad-based technical background with the ability to lead complex technical projects
  • Ability to maintain high performance in a highly dynamic, team-based environment
  • Ability to assimilate inputs from multiple sources and derive design and operational requirements
  • Developing associated architectures, implementing design, performing analysis and testing of modules and/or sub-systems in a laboratory setting
  • Digital, analog and/or RF testing; debugging complex circuit card assemblies (CCAs) or electro-mechanical systems
  • Understanding of CCA design and manufacturing
  • Subcontract Management
  • Collaborating with Global Supply Chain and Mission Assurance to identify and resolve supplier quality, lead time, and manufacturability issues
  • Proposal writing including cost estimation
  • Developing and maintaining complex integrated master schedules

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
