Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a Principal Rack Scale Systems Infrastructure Engineer to define software architecture for rack-scale infrastructure. You will work on control planes, orchestration, firmware, OS lifecycle, and networking fabrics, bridging hardware and software across teams.

Expect leadership for large-scale, open-source–oriented infrastructure projects. The role emphasizes Go/C++/Rust proficiency, Kubernetes experience, and strong Linux-based infrastructure knowledge.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience (15+ years) in systems architecture, system software, distributed systems, infrastructure control planes, or infrastructure engineering.
• Solid architectural knowledge of coordination frameworks, state machines, declarative APIs, reconciliation loops, lifecycle orchestration, and distributed systems tradeoffs.
• Proficient coding in Go, C++, or Rust with production-quality infrastructure software.
• Rust experience is highly valued.
• Experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems for infrastructure management.
• Experience with Linux-based infrastructure software, OS rollout and image management, firmware lifecycle, and hardware bring-up workflows.
• Strong data center networking knowledge: Ethernet, InfiniBand, RDMA, and fabric management.
• Experience with accelerator-based systems (GPUs/DPUs/FPGAs) and related software.

Responsibilities

• Define the complete software architecture for rack-scale infrastructure products and services across control planes, management, firmware, OS, drivers, and networking.
• Use Kubernetes and cloud-native primitives as an infrastructure fabric where appropriate, including controllers, operators, and reconciliation loops.
• Build open source infrastructure software that can be used as libraries, services, controllers, operators, and integration APIs.
• Bridge hardware and software teams across firmware, BMC, BIOS, boot flows, OS images, drivers, networking, and system management interfaces.
• Translate roadmaps into formal software requirements and execution plans that align teams.
