Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice, and are responsible for product development and qualification from market definition through production and release. They assist in qualifying suppliers for new products to ensure quality and support feasibility studies, testing, design, and manufacturing ramp-up. The teams provide comprehensive product documentation and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing and ensure quality. Fields of expertise include materials, mechanics, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation, packaging, testing, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic components and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop socket, high-speed connector, and cable assembly solutions from market definition through production and release.
  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to gather and translate VOC into design specifications.
  • Perform concept development, feasibility studies, and simulations.
  • Create detailed designs, prototypes, and conduct validation and qualification.
  • Support operations, resolve product issues, and manage engineering change notifications.
  • Understand customer needs and market trends to inform product design.
  • Follow LEANPD processes to ensure timely and quality product development.
  • Provide technical support across teams and work with global manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Document designs and changes thoroughly.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Approximately 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, including electrical components and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in socket, connector, or cable assembly design, including material selection and tolerance analysis.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (Creo preferred), GD&T, finite element analysis (Ansys), and DFM principles.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and full product development cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work globally across time zones.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and proficiency in MS Office tools.
