Job description

At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.

Job Overview

As a Principal Power Integrity Engineer, you will serve as a recognized subject matter expert for power integrity, high-voltage distribution, and power delivery architectures for next‑generation data center infrastructure. You will lead the technical direction for power distribution products and systems, translate ambiguous customer and market requirements into executable architectures, and influence the roadmap for cables, connectors, busbars, power shelves, and rack‑level power delivery solutions.

This role is intended for an engineer who can operate across customers, internal engineering teams, product management, manufacturing, suppliers, and senior leadership. The Principal Engineer is expected to solve unusually complex problems, establish methods and design criteria, mentor other engineers, and contribute directly to strategic objectives for the business.

Responsibilities
  • Define and drive the power integrity technical roadmap for high‑density compute and data center power distribution platforms, including 800+ V DC and emerging higher‑voltage DC architectures.
  • Lead system‑level architecture trade studies for AC and DC power paths, rack‑level power distribution, power shelves, busbars, connectors, cables, and conversion interfaces.
  • Establish modeling, simulation, measurement, and validation methodologies for impedance, parasitics, transient behavior, ripple/noise, thermal/electrical interaction, and fault response.
  • Create and review simulation models and design rules using tools such as SPICE, Allegro, PowerDC, Ansys Q3D, and related field‑solver or circuit‑simulation environments.
  • Correlate simulation results with lab measurements and lead closure of model‑to‑hardware gaps for complex power delivery systems.
  • Serve as technical consultant to internal teams, other business units, customers, and suppliers on power integrity, high‑current distribution, high‑voltage design, and system‑level tradeoffs.
  • Translate customer technology pain points into product requirements, validation plans, technical roadmaps, and differentiated solution concepts.
  • Lead technical reviews with customers and senior stakeholders; present complex concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Identify and resolve critical electrical issues through hands‑on testing, debug, root‑cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective action planning.
  • Drive technical standards, design guidelines, product/process learning, and IP generation for power distribution products and architectures.
  • Mentor Staff, Senior, and developing engineers; raise organizational capability in power integrity simulation, measurement, and design practice.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 8 years with a Master’s degree, or a PhD with 5 years of experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Deep experience in power integrity, power conversion, and power distribution for high‑current and/or high‑voltage systems.
  • Expert‑level knowledge of electrical design, simulation, and measurement methods for power delivery networks, parasitic extraction, impedance control, transient response, and system‑level validation.
  • Strong understanding of voltage converter architectures, AC/DC and DC/DC conversion interfaces, high‑voltage DC distribution, 3‑phase AC systems, and rack‑level power delivery.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with external customers, suppliers, industry leaders, and internal stakeholders across levels, disciplines, and geographies.
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts, influence decisions, and align cross‑functional stakeholders.
Benefits
  • A comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), disability, life insurance, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off and voluntary benefits.
Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $156,000 – $234,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits.
