Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is hiring a Principal R&D Engineer to join the Shockwave Medical team in Santa Clara, CA. The role focuses on developing and validating next‑gen intravascular therapies with strong CAD skills and cross‑functional leadership.

The engineer will drive concept through commercialization, oversee PROTOTYPING, testing, and documentation while collaborating with clinical and scientific advisors and ensuring compliance with quality systems and FDA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering with 10 years’ engineering experience.
• Experience in the medical device industry and disposable peripheral/coronary devices.
• Strong CAD skills with SolidWorks and ability to design for reliability and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for projects including managing technology development teams.
• Design and develop product(s) in compliance with Design Control and regulatory requirements.
• Prototype and develop proof of concept designs and tests in simulated environments.
