Job summary

Atom Computing in Boulder, CO is seeking a Principal System Integration and Test Lead for the Manufacturing team. You will own whole-system integration for neutral-atom quantum computers, mentor engineers, and coordinate with QEs and Systems Engineering.

The role reports to the VP of Manufacturing and offers a strong path to leadership. The base salary ranges from $200,000 to $230,000, with bonus and equity.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a physical science or engineering field.
• 10+ years in experimental AMO physics or quantum hardware.
• 3+ years leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of neutral-atom quantum computers.

Responsibilities

• Own whole-system integration across optics, laser delivery, vacuum interfaces, RF controls, timing, and instrument software for neutral-atom quantum computers.
• Define hardware-readiness checks and criteria with QEs and Systems Engineering.
• Collaborate with QEs on first-of-a-kind systems to establish repeatable integration sequences and diagnostics.
• Perform and guide system-level optical alignment, laser-delivery checks, controls checkout, and safety checks before atom-based verification begins.
• Mentor and train integration engineers and technicians; define qualification paths and staffing inputs.
• Lead cross-subsystem troubleshooting with laser, controls, subsystem, and QE specialists.
• Support hardware corrections during QE testing and shorten repeat-build cycle time.
