About the role:

Energoatom is a public enterprise operating 4 nuclear plants in Ukraine. This project involves building, purchasing, training, and qualifying a Nuclear Fuel Fabrication facility in Ukraine for Energoatom. The position requires extensive time on site at the Westinghouse Columbia Fuels Facility, with potential transition to a full-time remote role. No travel to Ukraine is required.

As a Principal Quality Engineer for Energoatom, you will ensure that contractual and Westinghouse quality program requirements are incorporated into project planning documents. You will report to the Program Manager for Energoatom and be based in Columbia, SC, working in a hybrid environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Review design engineering documentation to verify compliance with technical QA requirements for design, manufacture, construction, and installation of nuclear fuel.
2. Identify deviations that could create safety or environmental hazards or cause malfunctions.
3. Help create a data package for the customer based on the current program.
4. Provide consultation to the customer and personnel on quality program questions.
5. Serve as the quality liaison/coordinator for the relevant program.
6. Consult on the development of QA procedures and qualification of new plant operations.
7. Contribute to training development on quality procedures.
8. Assist in training personnel on the basics of the quality program.
9. Oversee new equipment and FAT tests to ensure they meet quality process requirements.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
2. 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (level depends on experience).
3. Nuclear experience is preferred but not required.
4. Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
