Job description

Principal Quality Engineer (2nd Shift)

Location: BWI site, Baltimore, MD. This 2nd Shift position focuses on ensuring quality standards across manufacturing processes for partially finished or finished materials.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are implemented.
• Devise and implement inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for products and production equipment.
• Assist in problem solving and support other cells as needed.
• Compile State‑of‑Cell matrices and perform audits of principles and operating practices.
• Lead resolution of nonconformances, repairs, and cell audits.
• Coordinate PCAB and conduct cell audits.
• Design and analyze inspection/testing processes, conduct statistical analysis, and determine corrective actions.
• Initiate Corrective Action Plans, work with suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering to identify root causes, and ensure robust corrective actions.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce nonconformances.
• Possibly specialize in design, mechanical engineering, incoming material, production control, product evaluation, reliability, inventory control, or research and development as related to quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in a STEM field with minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, failure investigation, or related manufacturing/engineering roles.
• OR 3 years of experience with a Master’s in STEM field.
• OR 1 year of experience with a PhD in STEM field.
• Experience with data analytics and statistical analysis methods and techniques.
• Demonstrated mentoring and staff development skills.
• Must obtain and maintain U.S. Government Secret Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IPC, J-Std, MIL-STD, ISO9001, AS9100, AS9102 FAI.
• Civil or technical certifications: Green/Black Belt Lean Six-Sigma, certified auditor, or Lean Six-Sigma methods.
• Experience facilitating RCCAs, SAP, DoD Secret clearance, cross-functional teams, and statistical tools (Excel, Minitab).
• Knowledge of AI, SQL, Power BI for data analysis and visualization.

Salary & Benefits

Primary level salary range: $98,900.00 – $148,300.00, with potential overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long-term incentives for senior positions.
