Acceler8 Talent is seeking a Principal Python Engineer to lead hands-on work in modeling, simulation and translation systems for mission-critical applications. Boston preferred, with options for San Francisco or remote work.

The role combines building production Python platforms, distributed workflows, and API-centric backend services, with a focus on high reliability and performance. Senior and Principal candidates should demonstrate technical leadership, mentorship, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Hands-on Python engineer with production experience.
• Experience with C++ or simulation platforms (e.g., AF SIM) is a plus.
• Proven ability to own complex backend or distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain production Python platforms for modeling and simulation.
• Lead backend services, queues, state machines and distributed workflows.
• Architect APIs (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and tooling for code analysis and translation.

Principal Python Engineer Modeling & Simulation

Boston preferred | San Francisco | Remote

Full-time | Hybrid or remote

U.S. security-clearance eligibility required

Were hiring a hands-on Python Engineer to build advanced modeling, simulation and code-translation systems for mission-critical applications.

What youll build

• Production Python platforms
• Agentic AI and distributed workflows
• Queues, state machines and backend services
• REST, GraphQL and gRPC APIs
• Code-analysis, static-analysis and translation tools
• Cloud-based, containerized systems

Strong signals

• Deep production Python experience
• C++ and AFSIM, or comparable simulation exposure
• Complex backend or distributed-system ownership
• Strong understanding of APIs, data structures, failure handling and performance
• Experience in defense, autonomy, robotics, aerospace, geospatial, logistics or operations research
• Clear, confident communication about systems you personally designed and shipped

Senior and Principal candidates should also demonstrate technical leadership and mentorship while remaining hands-on.
