The Role: Principal Propulsion Engineer

As a Principal Propulsion Engineer, you will be involved in the design, analysis, and development of propulsion hardware from piece parts to engine and/or Propellant & Pressure Management System (PPMS). You will be responsible for taking designs from concepts to flight maturity hardware. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and self-motivated individual comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What You Will Get To Do:
  • Support design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing of propulsion piece parts and assemblies
  • Generate CAD models of components and engine systems
  • Fluid network modeling, analysis & design: engine fluid systems, identifying COTS components, working with suppliers
  • Generate P&IDs of engine systems
  • Develop and execute test plans, analyze test results
  • Systems engineering focusing on engine balances, sizing, requirements, and cycle efficiencies
  • Use engine P&IDs to generate detailed CAD models of engine assemblies
  • Design and analyze tanks and supporting structures for PPMS
  • Collaborate with vehicle engineering and test teams to meet engine system requirements
  • Work with vendors and procurement to source components
What You Have:
  • 15+ years in aerospace vehicle and engine systems engineering/design
  • Bachelor's in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • 3+ years CAD experience with large assemblies
  • Systems engineering and operational experience
  • Experience with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials and fluid systems specifications
  • Proficiency in tools like NX, SolidWorks, ANSYS, CFX, Matlab/Python, GFSSP, Visio
  • Strong communication skills for hybrid work environments
What Will Set You Apart:
  • Master's or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • Experience with Rotating Detonating Engines
  • Project management or leadership experience
  • Background in systems engineering for engine/PPMS
  • Engine testing experience
  • Familiarity with standards like SMC-S-016, NASA STD-5012, AIAA S-080A-2018
  • Experience in process development for design, analysis, and testing
  • Expertise in specific oxidizers, fuels, injectors, high-temp materials, flameholders, or pump-fed engines
