Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking a Principal Project Manager to join our Water Business Group. Key duties include planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of large or technically complex multi-discipline projects or programs, typically with fees exceeding $5 million and involving large teams. This role may involve managing multiple projects concurrently, establishing client relations, and participating in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings. Responsibilities include coordinating with multiple consultants, contractors, and agencies, overseeing project delivery, staffing, workload management, and ensuring quality through QA/QC procedures. The Principal Project Manager will also mentor staff and supervise large project teams, maintaining professional engineering registration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering
  • PMP Certification
  • Experience as Project Director or Program Manager on projects over $50M
  • Experience with Design/Build projects, preferably in a Design Manager role
  • Knowledge of Water and Wastewater Engineering and project management procedures
  • Strong client relationship skills and industry contacts
  • Willingness to travel to project sites
  • Local candidates preferred
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 15 years of related experience
  • At least 7 years of project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Project; Access experience a plus
  • Leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills
