Gannett Fleming is seeking a Principal Project Manager with rail bridge design expertise to join our Northeast operations. A successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience in the analysis, design, and detailed plan preparation of steel and concrete Railroad bridges and other railroad-supporting structures, as well as have a good understanding of geotechnical engineering, and hydrologic and hydraulic studies involved in bridge design.

The desired candidate will be experienced with AREMA and railroads’ specific design policies, standards, and specifications and have proven project experience as a lead bridge/structures engineer. Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff and other disciplines within Gannett Fleming. The candidate will serve as a senior engineer and bridge project/task manager for large, multidisciplinary projects. Manage new and existing clients, as well as mentor structural staff. The candidate will work with team members to maintain and improve current client relationships, as well as develop new clients.

Position requires effective time management, analytical, and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be articulate with a professional presence and solid decision-making, planning, and organizational skills. Responsibility for managing/overseeing scopes, schedules, and budgets for projects performed with the bridge group and daily successful operation of all aspects of project delivery including customer interface.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage large, multidisciplinary rail bridge design projects
  • Analyze, design, and prepare detailed plans for steel and concrete railroad bridges and supporting structures
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering, hydrologic, and hydraulic studies related to bridge design
  • Ensure compliance with AREMA and railroads' design policies, standards, and specifications
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff and other disciplines within the organization
  • Serve as a senior engineer and project/task manager for bridge projects
  • Manage new and existing client relationships
  • Mentor and provide guidance to structural staff
  • Maintain and improve current client relationships and develop new clients
  • Demonstrate effective time management, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Make sound decisions and exhibit solid planning and organizational skills
  • Oversee scopes, schedules, and budgets for bridge projects
  • Ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil or Structural Engineering, Masters Preferred. PE required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the analysis and design of concrete and structural heavy rail and or high-speed railroad bridges and railroad-supporting structures.
  • Must possess strong leadership and communications skills, manage a bridge/structures design team(s).
  • Well versed in AREMA and specific railroads’ design policies, standards, and specifications
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word programs for business applications.
  • Experience in writing/development of project proposals in the pursuit and execution of railroad infrastructure projects.
