Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is seeking a Principal Field Project Manager to oversee high-complexity projects and portfolios within the nuclear power sector. You will lead large teams across controls, quality, engineering, and other PMs, reporting to the Manager Field Service Operations.

This role is remote with travel to project locations to ensure safe, on-time deliveries. You will drive planning, cost control, and risk management, while ensuring quality and value for customers at outage

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable disciplines: Project Management, Engineering, Science, or related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of project management experience or 3 years of PM/supervisory experience and 2+ years of technical field experience.
  • 6-10+ years of PM experience preferred, especially in Construction Management, large component replacements, and union workforce.
  • Leadership and hands-on field experience with non-union and union workforce for pipe fitting, boilermakers, machinists, welding, and nuclear repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects on high-complexity scopes or a portfolio of medium to high complexity projects.
  • Oversee cost estimates, proposals, negotiations, and opportunities at customer sites.
  • Prepare project management plans, schedules, baselines, and financial reporting; manage invoicing and risk.
  • Drive project execution to safe, first-time quality deliveries; monitor schedule and financials; manage partners.
  • Ensure project closure with proper archiving, quality assessments, and lessons learned.

About the role:

As a Principal Field Project Manager, you will be responsible for all project management processes on high-complexity projects, or a portfolio of medium to high-complexity projects. Lead and establish a healthy collaborative working environment with large teams, including cross-department roles such as Project Controls, Quality, Engineering and other Project Managers.

You will report to the Manager Field Service Operations and will be considered a remote employee and will travel to specified project locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will lead a variety of welding, machining and large components replacement projects performed during nuclear power plant outages.
  • Oversee and provide input to development of cost estimates and proposals for field service projects, in the nuclear power sector. Support customer negotiations and be an advocate for Westinghouse value-added opportunities at customer sites.
  • Complete the project planning processes, including authoring project management plans, procedures, schedules, challenge meetings, cost baselines/projections and financials reporting, invoicing, risk and partner registers per the Westinghouse Enterprise Project Management Office programs and Specialty Welding & Machining Project Playbook.
  • Be the driving factor during project execution at customer sites that lead our teams to safe and event-free, first-time quality project deliveries including schedule performance vs. baseline, tracking and projecting financials, invoicing, logging project performance details and lessons learned, and active partner management with internal and external communications. Develop and implement recovery plans when projects are off-track.
  • Ensure project closure by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems/tools. Perform final project quality assessments and reports. Communicate best practices, opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable disciplines: Project Management, Engineering, Science, or a related technical degree or equivalent non-degreed technical experience in an industrial environment (field service, nuclear, power plant, NDE, oil/gas).
  • 5 years of project management experience or 3 years of project management/supervisory experience and 2+ years of technical field experience (e.g., field service, nuclear, power plant, Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), oil/gas industry) may be considered as equivalent.
  • 6-10 plus years of applicable Project Management experience preferred, specifically in Construction Management, large component replacements, and working with union represented craft workforce. Experience leading field-based projects, particularly at nuclear plants during outages, and observing Safety and Non-Safety Related Quality Programs, ASME codes and several types of NDE.
  • Leadership and hands-on field experience with both non-union and union represented workforce for pipe fitting, boilermakers, machinists, manual and automated welding, and nuclear system piping repairs.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon qualifications, is estimated to be ($103,200 to $129,000) per year.
