Pratt & Whitney in Aguadilla, PR is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to lead a cross-functional IPT for part-level ownership across design, validation, production, and sustainment. You will guide technical execution and manage commitments to achieve CIPT goals.

You will lead activities across design, structural analysis, durability, aero, materials, and manufacturing engineering, while planning budgets, schedules, and metrics. Travel up to 10% domestically.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 8 years of engineering experience or Bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree and 5 years of engineering experience.
  • 5 years of project management experience.
  • U.S. Citizen – ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
  • Active secret clearance.

Responsabilidades

  • Provide leadership and project management to a cross-functional Integrated Product Team (IPT) responsible for part-level ownership throughout the lifecycle—design, validation, production, and field sustainment.
  • Guide technical execution, manage program commitments, and ensure CIPT goals are met.
  • Lead IPT activities across design, structural analysis, durability, aero, materials, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Drive technical execution and program performance, including risk management, issue resolution, and key review readiness.
  • Plan and manage budgets, schedules, and technical metrics in collaboration with the CIPT.
  • Serve as the part-level owner, accountable for communication, risk closure, and alignment to program requirements.
  • Partner with CIPT leadership to communicate status, risks, and needs to engineering and program management.
  • Coordinate engineering design updates and changes (Class I & Class II Engineering Changes).
  • Oversee development and sustainment activities such as supplier and manufacturing reviews, engine build-test-teardown events, ACIs, FMRs, MERLIN field inquiries, and deviation requests.
  • Support field investigations and production delivery troubleshooting as needed.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically.

What You Will Do

  • Drive technical execution and program performance, including risk management, issue resolution, and key review readiness.
  • Plan and manage budgets, schedules, and technical metrics in collaboration with the CIPT.
  • Serve as the part‑level owner, accountable for communication, risk closure, and alignment to program requirements.
  • Partner with CIPT leadership to communicate status, risks, and needs to engineering and program management.
  • Coordinate engineering design updates and changes (Class I & Class II Engineering Changes).
  • Oversee development and sustainment activities such as supplier and manufacturing reviews, engine build‑test‑teardown events, ACIs (Analytical Condition Inspections), FMRs (Failure Malfunction Reports), MERLIN field inquiries, and deviation requests.
  • Support field investigations and production delivery troubleshooting as needed.
  • English (read, write, speak) is required when communicating with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.
  • Travel up to 10% domestically.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 8 years of engineering experience or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with an advanced degree and 5 years of engineering experience.
  • 5 years of project management experience
  • U.S. Citizen - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active secret clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Prior experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) and familiarity with bid and proposal cost estimating for military programs.
  • Experience with AGILE methodologies.
  • Knowledge of CORE, Lean Six Sigma, and QCPC processes.
