Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Principal Program Scheduler to lead scheduling for the Persistent Surveillance Portfolio within the Defense Sensors Business Area. This role supports a DoD radar program delivering multiple systems to USMC, Army, and Air Force, including full life-cycle support and site activation activities.

The position is based at our Huntsville, AL facility where you will collaborate with IPTs, program managers, and technical SMEs to improve planning and execution while ensuring EVMS,

Qualifications

• BA degree required; 12+ years scheduling experience in DoD environment.
• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret clearance in future.
• Advanced expertise using Microsoft Project scheduling software.
• In-depth scheduling theory including CPM, SRA/Monte Carlo, and baseline change control.
• Experience with EVM standards and IMS development.

Responsibilities

• Develop the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and related artifacts in compliance with EIA-748 and industry best practices.
• Communicate schedule analysis and execution metrics to program leadership.
• Align time-phasing and resource plans with IMS to forecast/ETC.
• Create what-if scenarios to inform leadership.
• Monitor and report performance against baselines; interface with PMs and senior technical staff.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to other scheduling professionals.

Leidos is seeking an accomplished Principal Program Scheduler to provide strategic scheduling leadership on the Persistent Surveillance Portfolio of programs, within our Defense Sensors Business Area.

This exciting role provides a direct scheduling leadership opportunity to support a Department of Defense radar program delivering multiple systems to the USMC, Army, & Air Force, including full life-cycle support, logistics, and site activation activities. In this dynamic role, you will serve as a principal scheduling authority for mission-critical programs, trusted by senior leadership to anticipate risks, drive solutions, and ensure alignment between technical execution, resources, and program objectives. This role is ideal for a senior level scheduling professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments and seeks to apply their expertise to programs that directly support national defense.

This position will be housed at our Research Park Facility in Huntsville, Alabama , where you will be working with various Integrated Product teams, key program stakeholders, and Technical SMEs; to improve program planning and execution while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and company policy and procedures.

The Principal Program Scheduler position will be an integral part of the larger enterprise-wide Leidos Corporate Earned Value Management (EVM) Center of Excellence (COE). The Leidos Corporate EVM COE is a team-leading and executing the core responsibilities of scheduling, planning, EVMS, the associated infrastructure and tools, implementations, training, and surveillance for Leidos.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for applying scheduling theory/practice to develop the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and related artifacts in compliance with applicable standards and policies such as EVM standard EIA-748 and industry best practices (e.g., PASEG, NDIA) in alignment with the mission of the EVM COE and in support of programs.
• Requires a high-level understanding of programmatic scheduling theory and practice
• Provide the “why” - demonstrating the ability to clearly communicate schedule analysis, execution metrics, and overall program understanding through a cost informed scheduling perspective.
• Responsible for implementing practices to align the time phasing and plans for resources with the IMS to provide an integrated technical, schedule, and resource/cost baseline and forecast/ ETC for programs.
• Ability to create “what-if” scenarios within the schedule that inform program leadership
• Serves as a scheduling leader in assisting programs with issue identification & resolution solutions.
• Implement program scheduling business rhythms & controls
• Develop scheduling artifacts to meet contractual/project requirements
• Monitor, analyze, and report performance against baseline schedules to ensure that contractual cost and schedule objectives are met
• Significant interface with Program Managers, Contracts, and Senior Technical Personnel, as well as other organizations
• Provide Leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other emerging scheduling professionals
• Must be able to collaboratively work onsite at our Huntsville location multiple days per week, or on an “as needed” basis.

Basic Qualifications:

• Requires a BA degree and 12+ years of prior relevant scheduling experience in DOD Environment; Additional education, experience or training will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Ability and willingness to obtain a DoD Secret clearance in the future.
• Must have advanced expertise using Microsoft Project scheduling software
• Must possess an understanding of advanced scheduling theory including experience with:
  • Schedule status & version control processes
  • Schedule health assessment (e.g., 14-Point Analysis)
  • Resource loading/management
  • Baseline change control processes
  • Schedule Execution Metrics (BEI, CEI, CPLI, SV, SPI etc.)
  • Schedule Risk Assessment (SRA)/Monte Carlo Analysis and tools
  • Critical Path Method (CPM) and Margin/Float management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience scheduling as an Aerospace and Defense Prime/Major Subcontractor
• Experience in a Manufacturing/Production/Prototyping environment
• Intermediate to advanced expertise using Structured Solutions Inc. (SSI) Tools for Microsoft Project
• Experience w/ Milestones Professional
• Utilization of MS Project Macros
• Current and active DoD Secret clearance.

Pay Range $105,300.00 - $190,350.00
