Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Principal Program Industrial Engineer in McKinney, TX to support the Surveillance portfolio. The role focuses on optimizing factory throughput, applying Lean and Six Sigma, and guiding capacity planning across factories and suppliers. Occasional travel up to 30% may be required.

You will partner with SBUs, embedded engineers, and procurement to improve cost, quality, and on-time delivery while shaping strategic roadmaps for capacity and new capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Requires STEM degree and 8+ years of experience or an MS with 6+ years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship required; ATF clearance may be required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; CAD software experience.
  • Experience in factory layout/work cell design, simulation modeling, capacity analysis; project management; Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Create factory models using process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings.
  • Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to calculate capacity, eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet cost/quality/schedule goals.
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory capacity and technology insertion.
  • Support program contracts, business cases, supplier assessments, Make/Buy/Where analyses.
  • Partner with project managers to improve factory footprint and equipment layout.

What You Will Do

This position involves providing industrial engineering support directly to the program(s) across Raytheon factories and key suppliers which may require occasional travel not to exceed more than 30% of a standard work schedule.

Responsibilities will focus primarily on discrete program requests for industrial engineering support working closely with Strategic Business Unit partners, industrial engineers embedded within the factories, various support organizations, and key suppliers to improve cost, quality, and schedule performance, identify strategic investment opportunities, and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Create factory models using process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show manufacturing processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key metrics
  • Analyze manufacturing system performance to identify undesirable effects and opportunities for improvement
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to calculate capacity, eliminate constraints, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals
  • Contribute to strategic roadmaps focused on factory capacity, Manufacturing Technology insertion, infrastructure improvements, obsolescence mitigation, and the integration of new capabilities
  • Support program contract proposals, business case development for future investments, supplier assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses
  • Partner with project managers and factory support functions to improve the factory footprint and layout of factory equipment as needed

Qualifications

You Must Have Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. Or applicable MS degree with 6 years of applicable experience. Industrial Engineering degree The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
