Job description

At Scribd (pronounced "scribbed"), our mission is to spark human curiosity. Join our team as we create a world of stories and knowledge, democratize the exchange of ideas and information, and empower collective expertise through our three products : Everand, Scribd, and Slideshare.

We support a culture where our employees can be real and be bold; where we debate and commit as we embrace plot twists; and where every employee is empowered to take action as we prioritize the customer.

When it comes to workplace structure, we believe in balancing individual flexibility and community connections. It's through our flexible work benefit, Scribd Flex, that employees - in partnership with their manager - can choose the daily work-style that best suits their individual needs. A key tenet of Scribd Flex is our prioritization of intentional in-person moments to build collaboration, culture, and connection. For this reason, occasional in-person attendance is required for all Scribd employees, regardless of their location.

So what are we looking for in new team members? Well, we hire for "GRIT". The textbook definition of GRIT is demonstrating the intersection of passion and perseverance towards long term goals. At Scribd, we are inspired by the potential that this can unlock, and ask each of our employees to pursue a GRIT-ty approach to their work. In a tactical sense, GRIT is also a handy acronym that outlines the standards we hold ourselves and each other to. Here's what that means for you : we're looking for someone who showcases the ability to set and achieve G oals, achieve R esults within their job responsibilities, contribute I nnovative ideas and solutions, and positively influence the broader T eam through collaboration and attitude.

About the Role

At Scribd, we believe access to knowledge should be frictionless-and that starts with a seamless and scalable billing and payments experience.

We're building a world-class Payments & Billing team to power our global subscription business. As the product leader , you'll define the vision, set the roadmap, and lead execution across our core revenue infrastructure : billing systems, payment platforms, vendor ecosystems, and compliance enablers.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership opportunity to architect the systems that power a multi-million dollar business and build the foundation for long-term growth. You'll collaborate closely with Engineering, Finance, Risk, Legal, and external partners to deliver outcomes that are strategic, resilient, and future-proof.

If you're an experienced product leader who thrives in cross-functional complexity and is energized by building systems that both support and grow the entire business-this is your role.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for all payments and billing infrastructure-subscription lifecycle, transaction flows, revenue tooling, compliance, and more
  • Drive cross-functional execution across Finance, Risk, Engineering, and third-party vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and user-friendly systems
  • Define and deliver against outcomes -with a strong focus on metrics, speed, and business impact
  • Manage critical vendor relationships (e.g. Stripe, PayPal, tax engines), shaping strategy and contracts to support Scribd's goals
  • Stay ahead of the curve , proactively identifying risks, technical debt, and new opportunities in the payments ecosystem
  • Serve as the company's product expert in payments and billing-able to communicate clearly across all levels and functions

What We're Looking For

  • Must-Haves
  • Execution excellence : You've shipped complex, cross-functional products at scale, especially those tied to revenue systems
  • Strong communicator : You can align teams, influence stakeholders, and articulate the "why" behind every initiative
  • Deep payments fluency : You understand the strategy, incentives, and mechanics behind billing and payments-not just the technical components
  • Vendor leadership : You've driven strategic outcomes with partners like Stripe, PayPal, tax tools, and compliance systems
  • High ownership mindset : You bring urgency, challenge blockers, and know when to escalate or hold the line

Bonus Experience

  • Fintech operations, chargebacks, or compliance workflows
  • A strong POV or network around emerging vendors and integrations in the billing / payments space

Why This Role, Why Now?

You'll be the lead PM building the foundation of a high-impact system-with leadership support, real business stakes, and the freedom to shape how we scale. If you're looking for a role where you can move fast, lead with clarity, and make a measurable impact -we'd love to meet you.
