Job description
Principal Product Manager - Consumer Marketplace

Aurora is on a mission to create a future of solar for all. Our award-winning software puts the power of data and technology into the hands of every solar professional to make solar adoption simple and predictable. Our software has designed millions of solar projects so far, empowering solar companies to sell, design, and install residential and commercial solar arrays accurately, seamlessly, and at scale.

We’ve been named one of 'The Best Remote Companies To Work for in 2025' by BuiltIn.com and have been recognized for the second time as a Certified Green Business (CGB) with the city of San Francisco. We’re in this together to support the world’s transition to solar.

About the Team

Aurora’s Consumer team is building the world’s first real-time solar marketplace, designed to make residential solar more accessible, affordable, and transparent. With more than 70% installer market penetration already powering the platform, the team is uniquely positioned to create a seamless solar purchasing experience for homeowners. You’ll be joining a high-performing pod of engineers and designers dedicated to accelerating the adoption of solar and reducing costs for homeowners.

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead strategy, execution, and innovation for our consumer-facing solar marketplace. This role will define and drive initiatives that optimize the homeowner journey, balance marketplace dynamics, and unlock conversion growth across the funnel. You will work closely with cross-functional partners in engineering, design, marketing, sales, and operations to build delightful experiences for homeowners and powerful tools for Aurora’s partners.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape the future of residential solar by owning the vision and roadmap for the Consumer marketplace, driving measurable outcomes, and contributing to Aurora’s mission of creating a solar future for all.

Your Impact

Develop and implement a compelling vision to improve and expand Aurora’s solar marketplace

Leverage research, funnel analysis, and A/B testing to identify friction points, improve conversions, and inform roadmap priorities

Partner with engineering, design, and marketing to run experiments, deliver solutions, and align stakeholders

Design intuitive and engaging journeys that address customer pain points and drive adoption

Balance supply and demand, strengthen installer participation, and enable growth through scalable product solutions

Inspire teams, foster trust with stakeholders, and stay entrepreneurial in a fast-paced environment

Drive toward a fully digital, homeowner-driven purchasing process and explore integrations with AI, services, and tools across Aurora’s ecosystem

Identify and implement product tools that will enable Consumer to become an increasingly data-driven team in our product decision-making and roadmap

What You Bring

  • Marketplace Expertise: 8+ years of product management experience with proven success scaling and optimizing complex marketplaces
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Demonstrated proficiency in A/B testing, optimizing funnels, identifying and implementing tools to support KPI tracking, and making data-informed product decisions
  • Consumer-Centric Approach: Passion for creating seamless, engaging experiences that address customer pain points and priorities
  • Technical Acumen: 2+ years of experience with APIs, third-party integrations, and data-driven development processes
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to inspire, influence, and align cross-functional teams toward ambitious goals
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Hard work, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Customer Empathy: Hands-on experience leading user research and translating insights into actionable product improvements

Nice to Haves

  • Background in solar, renewable energy, or other complex consumer purchase industries (e.g., automotive)
  • Experience managing e-commerce transactions with long, complex customer journeys
  • Design or analytics proficiency
  • Experience implementing AI-driven consumer interactions or intelligent agents
  • Familiarity with the solar industry ecosystem and its market challenges

What We Offer

  • Flexible PTO - Take the time when you need it
  • Parental Leave - 16 weeks with 100% base salary + gradual return to work
  • WFH Stipend - An initial $500 (Non-engineers) or $750 (Engineering roles)
