The Opportunity

Within Aeroflow, the UX team partners with Product, Engineering, and business teams to improve digital experiences for patients and employees. Our Principal Product Designer will lead complex initiatives and strengthen design systems and delivery practices. This hands-on individual contributor will guide product experiences and mentor designers.

  • Simplify the tools and workflows employees use to support patients and deliver care.
  • Connect experiences across product areas through shared design patterns and a practical design system.
  • Bring research and strong design craft into product decisions, working closely with the existing UX team.
Your Primary Responsibilities

As Principal Product Designer, you will lead priority initiatives from discovery through launch and improve the UX team’s craft. You will partner with Product to shape priorities and with Engineering to deliver maintainable solutions.

  • Set experience direction for complex initiatives across patient-facing products and internal tools, aligning user needs with business goals and technical constraints.
  • Map complete journeys, including digital touchpoints and operational handoffs. Simplify workflows involving insurance, documentation, ordering, and support while accounting for exceptions and incomplete information.
  • Partner closely with UX Researchers to ingest generative and evaluative insights, translating macro-level research findings into end-to-end system flows, architectural design decisions, and reusable design system patterns.
  • Architect end-to-end user journeys and complex system flows for high-stakes, multi-touchpoint initiatives, establishing high-fidelity design standards and UI patterns for the broader design team to execute against.
  • Serve as the primary technical owner and architect of Aeroflow’s multi-platform design system, partnering with Engineering to define component architecture, governance, and cross-product adoption.
  • Work closely with engineers on feasibility, behavior, and edge cases. Document design intent and acceptance criteria, review implemented experiences, and resolve gaps before and after launch.
  • Elevate the department’s overall craft quality by leading design critiques, establishing interaction design standards and mentoring Senior Designers on complex problem-solving and systems thinking.
  • Partner with Product and Analytics to define and evaluate outcomes such as task completion, conversion, adoption, avoidable support contacts, and time spent on operational workflows.
  • Design for accessibility, clear language, and different levels of digital confidence. Work with Security and Compliance to incorporate privacy and appropriate handling of patient information.
  • Evaluate approved AI-assisted prototyping workflows that help the team work effectively. Validate outputs and use approved data-handling practices for sensitive information.
  • Employee has an individual responsibility for knowledge of and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Compliance is a condition of employment and is considered an element of job performance
  • Regular and reliable attendance as assigned by your schedule
  • Other job duties assigned
Skills for Success
  • Systems thinking that connects individual screens to the full patient or employee journey and the processes behind it.
  • Strong interaction and visual design craft, with the judgment to decide when to explore, validate, or move into delivery.
  • Clear communication that explains design decisions, surfaces tradeoffs, and builds agreement across designers, engineers, product leaders, and business stakeholders.
  • Practical leadership through influence, thoughtful critique, and shared tools that make other designers more effective.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of product or UX design experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating principal-level impact through complex, shipped products.
  • A portfolio of shipped work showing your contribution, research and design decisions, interaction and visual craft, and resulting user or business outcomes.
  • Strong systems thinking and information architecture skills, with experience using research and usability testing to shape complex workflows and product direction.
  • Experience creating or evolving reusable design systems, building interactive prototypes in Figma or comparable tools, and partnering with Engineering on feasible solutions.
  • Ability to influence product decisions, communicate with senior stakeholders, and mentor designers while remaining directly involved in design execution.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility and responsive design, with the ability to apply these practices to customer-facing and internal experiences.
  • Relevant education in design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
You might also have
  • Experience in healthcare, durable medical equipment, insurance, or another industry with complex regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Experience modernizing legacy products, unifying fragmented experiences, or designing complex administrative and transactional workflows.
  • Experience using AI-assisted product or design tools and establishing responsible shared practices for their use.
