Principal Process Control and Automation Engineer (I&C)

Overview

We are constructing a new advanced manufacturing facility in Lebanon, IN, which will be Lilly’s largest investment in capacity for API production. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the startup leadership team for this greenfield project, helping to build a new organization, facility, and culture for GMP manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support for automation platforms, troubleshooting process interruptions, diagnostics, communications, and security events.
• Enhance automation system performance and operability through technical expertise.
• Ensure safety in design and operation, and support the integration of new equipment and technologies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support and improve automated systems and equipment.
• Perform solution assessments, performance reviews, and ensure efficient operation of automation systems.
• Manage tools, standards, and best practices; provide technical coaching and facilitate knowledge sharing.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in industrial control, API manufacturing process control, utilities automation, or environmental systems.
• Experience troubleshooting instrumentation and control integrations.
• Strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control systems, and data management.

Preferred Skills

• Ability to work safely and experience with multiple automation platforms, especially Delta-V and Rockwell.
• Knowledge of sensing, acting, and transducing field instrumentation.
• Excellent communication skills; knowledge of GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing; proficiency in Microsoft OS.
