Job summary

Shield AI seeks a Principal Power Electronics Engineer to own the design of power electronics for the X‑BAT aircraft and the systems they integrate with. You will drive architecture, conversion design, development and delivery from concept to production in a fast-paced, cross‑functional environment.

You will lead hardware design across low and high power ranges, mentor junior engineers, and ensure designs survive harsh aerospace conditions while meeting safety, manufacturability and reliability

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years as an Electrical Engineer.
• Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, testing, and debugging.
• Familiarity with Altium or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.

Responsibilities

• Own flight critical power system design for X-BAT.
• Design power electronics for high and low voltage systems (inverters, DC-DC, battery management).
• Lead design, verification, and manufacturing deployment.
• Mentor power team and cross-functionally.
• Harden designs for harsh environments (shock, vibration, high reliability, radiation).
• Work on sub-systems from <1 kW to >10 kW.
• Full-cycle hardware development from concept to validation.
• Drive PCB layout and design with ECAD engineers for power density and EMI.
• Design for Safety, Manufacturability and Reliability.
