Job summary

Google is hiring a Principal Engineer for GCE Platform Security in Sunnyvale, CA. You will be the premier technical authority, shaping the end-to-end security posture across control planes and node data planes for Google Compute Engine.

You will lead defenses against AI/LLM-assisted threats, hardware vulnerabilities, and multi-tenant isolation, while guiding zero-trust and hardware-secured architectures for next‑generation AI workloads and massive accelerator clusters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of professional software development experience, or 13 years with an advanced degree.
• Experience architecting, developing, and securing low-level systems software across virtualization and OS stack (hypervisors, Linux kernel, VMMs).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the overall technical authority for GCE Platform Security architecture and strategy.
• Formulate defenses against autonomous agentic threats and LLM-assisted exploits with automated vulnerability discovery.
• Architect hardware-level defenses to eliminate CPU vulnerabilities and cross-tenant leakage.
• Lead security defenses across hypervisors, VMMs, host kernels, and low-level runtimes with sandboxing.
• Drive host security, zero-trust architectures, and hardware-assisted security offloading.
