Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a hands-on engineer in Austin to own the platform's monitoring and alerting strategy and evolve it for future use.

The role involves designing services, automating workflows, and collaborating with development teams to improve observability, security, and efficiency across the platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience developing software solutions.
• 5+ years of experience developing modern software-driven infrastructure and/or platform services.
• Experience designing, implementing, and/or supporting workflow automation systems, messaging/queuing systems, and/or ETL frameworks.
• Comfortable troubleshooting vendor software systems.
• Deep familiarity with Linux and related technologies.
• Familiarity with Windows and related technologies.
• Experience developing software in Python (or equivalent), Terraform (or equivalent), and Ansible (or equivalent).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Airflow, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure.
• Working knowledge of security best practices for SDLC.
• Experience with SRE/DevOps and agile/scrum methodologies.
• Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer one or more application services, including workflow automation, messaging/queuing systems, application security, and ETL.
• Engage with application development teams and internal customers to assist with their utilization of application services.
• Develop software solutions using scripting, back-end, and/or front-end technologies.
• Build automation to support the configuration, testing, and deployment of software and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to drive the success of our developers, business users, and clients.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and partner with technical product owners to define service roadmap.

• Experience working in or with an SRE or DevOps team
• Experience with agile/scrum methodologies
• Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Certification or equivalent
