Position Summary

The Principal Planner is responsible for managing and aligning all facets of Supply Chain (master scheduling, inventory planning, releasing and prioritizing work orders with Operations and Manufacturing) while also maintaining, coordinating, and strategizing for contractual commitments and deadlines, and acts as the primary back-up contact in management's absence. This role requires at least 10 years of experience working in a production/manufacturing environment, at least 10 years of experience working in Supply Chain, and a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts. The Principal Planner works closely with all internal SIG departments, especially Operations, to tie together all major deadlines and it is not uncommon to interface with the executive management team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage deadlines based on expectations.
  • Ensure that MRP (Material Requirements Planning) signals are accurate, appropriate, and are fully compliant with internal policies and customer requirements.
  • Work with Supply Chain management on resolving issues regarding Operations and Production.
  • Monitor parts through manufacturing processes and expedite as required.
  • Identify and manage end-of-life inventory and PO or work order liability and new product implementations for the program(s) with no supervision.
  • Pull information from multiple data sources and provide analytics and presentations to management team as needed. Able to present data verbally, visually, and professionally.
  • Provide assistance and training to others within the Planning team on where to go for data and the most efficient means of putting together analytics.
  • Provide Oracle (ASCP) training and guidance to all other levels of Planners and Production Coordinators.
  • Act as escalation point for most issues within Planning as well as issues and conflicts impacting Operations and Production.
  • Recommend viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality, while also being aware of contractual parameters.
  • Monitor the program(s) schedule performance, track plans, and perform schedule risk analysis.
  • Lead problem solving teams focused on clearing constraints and improving efficiency and reducing cost within Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, and at external suppliers.
  • May identify, lead, and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience, at least 10 years of experience working in a production/manufacturing environment, and at least 10 years of experience working in Supply Chain.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Oracle EBS, ASCP, and Agile required. Comfortable training others on all relevant aspects of these applications.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Able to operate independently at a high level and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Working Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
