E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking a Pipeline / Instrumentation & Controls Principal Engineer to lead design, analysis, and commissioning for natural gas infrastructure in Southern California. The role collaborates with clients, project teams, and vendors to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient systems across pipelines, regulators, and metering facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in natural gas utilities, pipelines, or instrumentation and controls.
• California P.E. license required.
• Experience with natural gas transmission/ distribution systems and regulator stations.
• Working knowledge of codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA, NEC).
• Ability to interpret P&ID, PFD, electrical schematics, and vendor docs.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with clients and project teams to define design needs and support execution.
• Develop scoping documents, design criteria, work plans, and cost estimates.
• Design gas control, automation, and real-time remote monitoring systems.
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and wiring diagrams for projects in Southern California.
• Coordinate SCADA integration, communications, and data exchange with field equipment.
• Support startup, commissioning, and field verification activities.
