Job summary

Northrop Grumman is hiring a Principal/Senior Principal Board Designer in Baltimore, MD, with hybrid work options from Baltimore/Linthicum. The role centers on creating high-quality PCB layouts that satisfy electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability requirements for defense-grade products.

You will partner with schematic designers, hardware engineers, and manufacturing teams to translate concepts into production-ready boards, while mentoring junior designers and exploring new PCB technologies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; 5+ years PCB layout experience
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Experience with high-volume or high-complexity PCB environments
• 3+ years with Mentor Graphics and advanced routing/stack-up configuration

Responsibilities

• Develop complete PCB layouts with multi-layer designs meeting SI and EMC requirements
• Run DRC, SI simulations, and thermal analyses; document compliance
• Collaborate on cross-functional design reviews with electrical, mechanical, and reliability teams
• Support DFM/DFP initiatives with fabricators to optimize stack-up and test-point placement
• Generate production documentation and mentor junior designers
