Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA, seeks a Principal or Senior Principal Program Manager to join the Supportability Engineering CAM/WPM within the Product Support IPT. You will own CAMs and work packages, develop CAPs, and align scope with the IMS.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years, experience in EVM and CAM/WPM on defense programs, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, Business, or related field with 5 years experience; Masters degree with 3 years experience; PhD with 1 year experience.
  • Experience in project management, CAM/WPM, or task/technical leadership on complex engineering or logistics/support programs.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts and CAM practices.
  • Familiarity with supportability/product support disciplines (logistics engineering, reliability & maintainability, technical publications, training, provisioning, support equipment).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret cost and schedule data and drive corrective actions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills; ability to brief technical and programmatic status to leadership and IPT members.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal or Sr. Principal Program Manager as a Supportability Engineering team CAM/WPM to our Product Support Integrated Product Team (PS IPT) in San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Control Account / Work Package Ownership:

    Serve as the single point of contact for assigned Supportability Engineering control accounts and work packages.

    Develop and maintain Control Account Plans (CAPs), Work Package descriptions, and associated schedules in alignment with the program's Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

    Define scope, assumptions, and resource needs for supportability tasks.

  • Cost & Schedule Management:

    Establish budgets and resource plans for supportability engineering tasks.

    Monitor actuals vs. budget, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.

    Maintain accurate Earned Value metrics and support monthly CAM reviews and business rhythm.

  • Baseline Efforts:

    Support baseline establishment for assigned control accounts.

    Evaluate impacts of change requests, contract modifications, and technical direction, and update CAPs, schedules, and budgets accordingly.

    Participate in internal change boards and provide cost/schedule/technical impact assessments.

  • Performance Reporting & Reviews:

    Prepare and present status of assigned accounts to IPT leads and integrators to support program reviews, CAM reviews, and customer meetings as required.

    Provide clear narrative and quantitative insight into cost, schedule, and technical performance, including risks and opportunities.

    Support internal and external audits of EVM and Control Account Management artifacts.

  • Risk and Opportunity Management:

    Identify cost, schedule, and technical risks and opportunities within assigned work scope.

    Develop and track mitigation plans and contribute to the program's risk and opportunity management process.

  • Process & Compliance:

    Ensure all work is executed in accordance with company procedures, EVM guidelines, and program-specific instructions.

    Contribute to continuous improvement of Supportability Engineering and CAM/WPM processes and tools.

Basic Qualifications (Level 3)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, Business, or related field with 5 years experience; Masters degree with 3 years experience; PhD with 1 year experience.
  • Experience in project management, CAM/WPM, or task/technical leadership on complex engineering or logistics/support programs.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts and Control Account Management practices.
  • Familiarity with supportability/product support disciplines (e.g., logistics engineering, reliability & maintainability, technical publications, training, provisioning, support equipment).

Basic Qualifications (Level 4)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, Business, or related field with 8 years experience; Masters degree with 6 years experience; PhD with 4 year experience.
  • Experience in project management, CAM/WPM, or task/technical leadership on complex engineering or logistics/support programs.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts and Control Account Management practices.
  • Familiarity with supportability/product support disciplines (e.g., logistics engineering, reliability & maintainability, technical publications, training, provisioning, support equipment).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret cost and schedule data and drive corrective actions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills; ability to brief technical and programmatic status to leadership and IPT members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within a Product Support IPT or similar integrated sustainment/support organization.
  • Hands-on CAM experience on DoD or aerospace/defense programs.
  • Experience using scheduling and EV tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Cobra, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of lifecycle support concepts, ILS/ILS elements, and sustainment planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate across engineering, logistics, and program management.

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
