The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, systems engineering across the full lifecycle, and strong communication with leadership and customers. Clearance eligibility and on-site work in OKC are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline required.
  • Experience with aerospace systems and DoD/air force standards preferred.
  • Clearance: Secret; ability to obtain and maintain required clearances.

Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Principal or a Sr. Principal Electronics (Hardware) Engineer to join our team in Oklahoma City, OK or Melbourne, FL.The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.This engineer will support the Lead Engineer in execution of various program activities, to include design development, design/program reviews, requirements management, automated test software development, test execution and witnessing, tooling development, hardware selection, and specification development.Responsibilities:Analyze tooling/support equipment and recommend appropriate solutions for re-work or alternative solutions including modern manufacturing methods.Access, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings.Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test.Generates complex engineering models and drawingsAnalyze complex systems and precision electro-mechanical assemblies through simulation and/or analysis to then recommend appropriate substitutions or re-design solutions to ensure the integrity of the platform configuration, system safety, and performance specifications while minimally impacting qualification processes.Identify, analyze, and solve obsolescence issues.Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules.Identify program problems and assist in the establishing of solutions, such as allocation of resources, improved processes, or changing contractual specifications.Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of programs.Support process improvement and establishment.Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware specifications.Generates reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations.Research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.*This position may be filled either at the Principal Engineer level OR at the Sr. Principal Engineer level based on the qualifications listed below.**Basic Qualifications:Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a relevant STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret and any applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearances prior to start. These clearances must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needsMust be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.Experience with CAD modeling (NX, CATIA)Experience in systems engineering across the full lifecycle (requirements, architecture/design, integration, verification & validation, and/or operations).Demonstrated experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, JIRA, or equivalent).Proven ability to lead technical efforts and work effectively in cross functional teams.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to leadership and/or customers.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a technical leadership role on a cross-functional product development teamExperience designing tooling and support equipmentExperience with static FEA (i.e. ANSYS, FEMAP/NASTRAN)Experience with aerospace systems.Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards.Active US Government Secret Security Clearance (or higher) with investigation in the last five (5) yearsExperience with test planning at the equipment and system level.Experience with nuclear hardened systems.Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices.Experience with Dynamic and heat transfer FEAExperience in Additive Manufacturing or 3D-Print design & technologiesExperience with modernization and sustainment of military aircraftsExperience conducting analysis of mechanical components and structures within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness and creating written recommendations for increasing efficiency and effectiveness.Primary Level Salary Range: $93,300.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $116,300.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
