Remote: This role is based remotely, but if you live within a 50-mile radius of [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Role
General Motors is seeking a Network Engineer to help build and maintain our automation ecosystem that delivers production and development services to the autonomous vehicles production network. As a key member of the Infrastructure Engineering team, this role will focus on advancing and scaling our critical production network and systems, essential for automating network design, deployment, troubleshooting, upkeep, and operations. The individual will manage the complete lifecycle of on-premise network devices and servers, including automated initial configuration and ongoing management through our network Source of Truth and automation platforms.
Develop well-written technical and architectural designs
Build and support network automation platforms that provide services to our global network
Collaborate with fellow network engineers and SREs to understand and solve challenges in complex networks through software-based solutions
Deliver complex network automation architectures through incremental development practices
Maintain switches, routers, and network access equipment
Deploy and maintain software-defined cloud networking, primarily in GCP and AWS
Participate in network operations and systems on-call rotation
Perform peer reviews, provide guidance, and contribute based on software best practices
