Role Overview

In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you'll develop systems that sense, control, exploit, and disseminate actionable information to warfighters supporting various missions.

Join BAE Systems' Platform Engineering group as a Network Engineer, deploying, monitoring, and maintaining core/spine, aggregation/leaf, firewall, and multi-site routing. You'll implement robust, standardized, and advanced technological solutions, setting the foundation for future operations.

As a Network Engineer, you'll utilize the latest Software Defined Networking (SDN) via automation to support growing IT and Data Center service needs. You'll work within the SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) group and collaborate across teams including Core Services, DevOps, Security, and IT Operations to achieve project goals. Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver Excellence: Collaborate with Network Engineers and SREs to ensure seamless service delivery.
  2. Innovate and Implement: Bring service methodologies from concept to execution.
  3. Problem Solving: Use analytical skills for troubleshooting and network optimization.
  4. Measurement and Monitoring: Measure KPIs to enable continuous improvement.
  5. Support Infrastructure: Provide operational support for large-scale network infrastructures.
  6. Communicate and Collaborate: Work with cross-functional teams to complete tasks.
  7. Experience: Several years of experience with Juniper Networks or Cisco equipment, OS functions, and security hardening.
  8. Physical Requirements: Ability to move, rack, and install physical equipment (up to 50 lbs).

This role requires onsite work at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time due to the need for in-person collaboration.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active DOD Secret clearance (investigation within 5 years)
  • Minimum 5 years of Network Engineering experience
  • Strong desire to deliver excellence and meet user needs
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SMTP, NFS, DHCP, DNS, FTP, Telnet, SSH)
  • Expertise in Layer 2/3 networking, including VLANs, STP, VxLAN, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
  • Understanding of the OSI model
  • Knowledge of SDN and service lifecycle management
  • Experience applying DISA STIGs and resolving security vulnerabilities
  • Proactive problem-solving skills
  • Ability to obtain a Security clearance within 90 days
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Certifications in Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, or Cisco technologies
  • Experience with protocol analyzers like Wireshark
  • Knowledge of fabric networking solutions (VxLAN, EVPN, SDN)
  • Experience in multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Cisco)
  • Experience with network automation tools like Ansible
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills using PowerPoint and drawing tools
Pay & Benefits

Salary Range: $115,779 - $196,825 (market-based, dependent on qualifications)
