Berkshire Hathaway companies power some of the most critical systems in North America—spanning transportation, energy, logistics, manufacturing, retail, and infrastructure. At BRK Tech, we partner across these businesses to design, build, and operate modern technology platforms that run at massive scale and support long‑term, real‑world impact.
We are hiring for a hybrid Principal Network Engineer for a Berkshire Portfolio company. This person must be open to working from Des Moines, IA, Omaha, NE, Portland, OR , Las Vegas, NV, Reno, NV, Salt Lake City, UT or Richmond VA (Glen Allen).
This person will help modernize and secure its network infrastructure while supporting the company's long‑term technology strategy. Success in this position will improve the organization's security posture, strengthen cloud connectivity and resiliency, enhance internet-facing service protection, and ensure engineering decisions are implemented consistently across the enterprise.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly accomplished Network Engineer or Network Architect who wants to remain deeply technical while expanding their influence across a large and diverse enterprise environment. Rather than focusing on day-to-day operational support, this role provides the opportunity to shape architectural direction, lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, mentor engineers across the organization, and solve some of the most complex networking and security challenges facing the business.
The position offers exposure to enterprise routing, cloud networking, network security, automation, SD-WAN, public DNS, load balancing, and web application security technologies while working on initiatives that directly support critical infrastructure operations. This role provides the opportunity to make lasting technical contributions within a stable organization that values engineering excellence, reliability, and long‑term thinking.
This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
